JIM BUTTON,
TELLING TALES.

25

Recently Tracey and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary. That’s right, 25 years!

There was a time that seemed unattainable and more like a fantasy than a reality. And not for the usual marriage challenges of course.

But here we are, in a thriving, loving, caring, albeit twisty, turny, up and down crazy partnership

I know for a fact I wouldn’t be alive if it were not for Tracey. Her capacity for love and care is unmatched. Her ability to manage my crazy diets, my revolving medical treatments, my lack of reciprocity when it comes to so many activities is truly astounding. If she was on the front lines in a battle I have no doubt many soldiers would see her as the angel she is.

I am so proud of what we have accomplished together over the last 25, including, but not focusing on, our eight year cancer project.

We are a great partnership, she drives me nuts, I drive her nuts - although I don’t back seat drive her nuts, that’s just wrong and irritating. And when we disagree/fight we have always come back together and resolve the issue. It works for us because we respect each other completely.

I’m here not only because of Tracey’s efforts, I’m also here because of my children. They bring me much needed joy. Joy from our interactions of course, but also because I am able to watch them grow and go thru all those crazy experiences that occur while you are transitioning to adulthood. Actually in all fairness they are already adults, but they are still in that crazy growth phase where independence is so important, yet assistance from the parental unit is often appreciated.

When I am in my occasional trough of despair it is these three that pull me out. I go through a lot of challenges, many painful, many mentally challenging, just to ensure I stay around as part of the Button Fam Jam. These three are my reason for taking chemotherapy. These three are my purpose, and I will forever continue to push my mind and body to ensure I stick around for them.

25 years. An incredible run with an incredible team. I look forward to celebrating many more exciting milestones.
